Welcome to the LMNL site. A limen is an entranceway or threshold. LMNL, pronounced “liminal”, is an experimental approach to digital text encoding that supports, in SGML/XML terms, overlapping elements (ranges in LMNL) and structured attributes (annotations in LMNL).

- The data model is the core of LMNL. We're still working on some of the details, so your comments are very welcome.

- The LMNL syntax is just one of the syntaxes that you could use for LMNL, but it's one that covers the whole data model fairly elegantly. As with the data model, we're still working on the details so comments are welcome.
- Extreme Markup Languages 2002
- The underlying concept and the syntax of LMNL are the same as that presented at Extreme, but the data model and some of the terminology has changed, so don't take this stuff as gospel.
